About this facility

A municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill is an engineered disposal site where household, commercial and some construction waste is weighed in at a scale house, tipped, compacted and covered with soil or an approved alternative at the end of each operating day. Modern landfills are lined and monitored, and many capture landfill gas. Some landfills accept self-haul loads from residents and small businesses; others take only contracted hauler or commercial loads. Fees are usually charged by the ton or by the load.
